End of Summer 2025 Media Updates
Jeremy Levy back with you with some more updates for the late summer of 2025. As always, if you have anything you think I should cover please send it to me at Jeremymlevy@gmail.com I will try and include it in the next blog post.
Let’s start out with some music radio changes. Back in the mid- 1990’s and early 2000’s there was a radio personality named Kevin Callihan. He worked for Kosi 101 and also worked in Colorado Springs before that for I heart Media. Kevin has been named program director of all of the radio stations owned by Pamal Broadcasting. This is great news there. A recent stop for him was in San Diego California with Intercom/ Audacy. Congratulations to him. Cheree Marquart has been named as a strategist for a radio group called Paragon. She will be an advisor of the group. Good luck to her with this new adventure. As I have blogged about in the past, I remember Cheree when she was let go from Westwood One, and I remember her from the Rocky Mountain PBS auction.
Let’s get into some talk radio stories now. Peter Boyles was back from the motorcycle rally in Sturgis on Saturday August 9. He had a really great time but came back with a little bit of a sore throat. He said on the air on Saturday that he had a big boy voice that morning.
Jon Caldara wasn’t on 710 KNUS radio on Saturday the 9th of August. Steffan Tubbs was his fill in. It was good to hear Steffan again, and Steffan had some news of his own. He had successful prostate surgery to remove cancer. Good wishes go out to Steffan. Peter Boyles had Steffan on his show for an update. You can catch that podcast on the 710 KNUS radio website.
“A great Taste of Douglas County event happened on August 21, 2025.” A Quote from Mike Boyle of the Mike Boyle restaurant show. Yes, it was a successful 24th year of the Taste of Douglas County. Some new restaurants participated this year. It was great to hear about some of them. Mike is already looking forward to the 25th annual next year.
Mandy Connell’s surgery went well, and she was back on Monday August 11th. She is broadcasting from home. I really enjoyed Krista Kafer as fill in, and I also enjoyed Jimmy Segenberger. I also really enjoyed Friday’s show because Greg Stone filled in for Mandy. The best was the third hour because he had Kevin Fitzgerald, a comedian as a guest. I remember Kevin when he hosted a pet guest appearance on Reggie Mcdaniel’s show back in the early 2000’s. That was fun to listen to.
Tom Martino had his last chemo treatment at the end of July, so this means that he is cancer free. On Tuesday August 12th at the end of the third hour an emergency came up that he had to deal with. It wasn’t with him. It might have had something to do with a family member. Marc Mager took the last hour of the show from his house. Hopefully everything is okay with Tom’s family. Tom was back on Wednesday August 13th.
Bronco’s training camp has been a big success with all the pre-season games in the books. It was good to hear Benjamin Albright, Ryan Edwards, Dave Logan Rick Lewis, and Susie Wargin during the games. See my Broncos blog posted earlier for more on the Broncos.
Ross Kaminsky is doing a really fun summer contest this is through one of his sponsors. A listener can win a fire place the same one that Ross has at his house. The same brand that he has in his house. People need to go to KOA’s twitter page or Instagram page to find out how to enter. He will be drawing a name at the end of August. On August 15th, in the first half an hour of the Ross Kaminsky show, he had Tom Martino on to talk about getting cured from cancer. It would be on the podcast afterwards and people can find it on the 850 KOA radio website.
Some podcasting news now. On the Your Fellow Odyssean podcast the second week of July, Daniel Roth had J. D. Sutter on as the guest. They were talking about a popular album in the Adventures in Odyssey series called the darkness before dawn episode. This was very interesting. I agreed with all of the thoughts they had. At the end of July on the same podcast, Daniel had Kris Anthony Lansdown on the podcast. Kris is the host of Adventures in Odyssey. It is very interesting to hear how she has been on the show since 1987. She is still around today as the host of the show. J. D. was a part of a great audio theater conference back in the month of August. He did a couple of bonus episodes with Austin Peachy. That was interesting as well.
One more quick podcasting note. The Plugged In Show podcast had their last episode on August 21st. Adam Holtz and Paul Asay invited the original host of the podcast, Bob Smithhouser on to the podcast to talk about how the show got started. As a loyal listener to this podcast, it was interesting to me. When I found this podcast again back in 2023, it became one of the podcasts that I would listen to on Thursdays. I will have to find a different podcast for my Thursday listening routine. Thanks to all of the great people at Plugged In for all of the great podcasts you have done over the years. They are still going to be around on YouTube. They are just not podcasting anymore. The main thing I learned from listening to this podcast is how to let my Mom and Dad into my world. Sometimes when I was younger, I didn’t do the best job of letting them into my world.
Thanks for tuning in.
